Peer – Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Editorial Board undergo the peer review process, with the exception of reviews of published research works: monographs, textbooks, articles, and informational reports. The Editorial Board has adopted the following procedure for manuscript peer review:
1. The author submits a manuscript to the Editorial Board of the "Turkic Studies Journal," complying with the journal's requirements and article preparation guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the requirements are not registered and are not considered for further review, as the Editorial Board informs the authors about it.
2. Each article submitted to the editorial board goes through two rounds of closed scientific expertise, namely Single-Blind and Double-Blind Peer Review. In single-blind peer review, the author does not know who reviews his /her paper. In double-blind peer review, both the author and reviewer keep their anonymity. Closed or "blind" peer-review is conducted by both internal and external experts.
3. The reviewers are both members of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal and external highly qualified specialists who possess deep professional knowledge and scientific authority in specific professional fields.
4. The responsible editor of the journal “Turkic Studies Journal” conducts the review process and appoints reviewers.
5. The peer review is carried out according to a special template, where novelty, relevance, alignment of the article's topic with the journal's scope, obtained results, and utilized methods are specified. Additionally, the review includes comments and suggestions from reviewers regarding the content, formatting, literature, and references of the article. The article review template is developed by the editorial staff.
6. The review period is 30 calendar days.
7. The interaction between the reviewer and the author (co-authors) takes place by e-mail correspondence through the responsible editor of the journal or via the publishing platform OJS (Open Journal Systems).
8. In case of the reviewer's comments and the need to make certain adjustments to the article, the article is sent to the author with a proposal to take into account the comments when preparing an updated version of the article The author needs to provide a point-by-point response to the reviewer’s comments. The corrected version is re-submitted to the reviewer and the Editorial Board within 30 days to make a decision and prepare a reasoned conclusion on the possibility of publication. The date of recommendation of the manuscript for publication is the date when the Editorial Board receives a positive reviewer's opinion (or the decision of the Editorial Board) on the possible publication.
9. In case of a conflict of interest, the Editorial Board may may assign it to additional review or appoint a new expert. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject the article if it is considered inadequate or if the author does not respond to recommendations and comments of the reviewers.
10. Manuscripts that receive positive reviews, are sent for proof editing.

11. The final decision on the possibility and advisability of publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief in accordance with the recommendations of the Editorial Board. The authors of accepted manuscripts are notified about the acceptance and expected publication date by the responsible editor of the journal.
12. The Editorial Board of the “Turkic Studies Journal” rotates reviewers and expands their number as necessary.
