The article examines the semantic differences of onomastic units, anthroponyms and
toponyms preserved in the structure of phraseological units in the Turkic languages. The authors note that Turkic onomastic names are found not only in stable expressions, but also in proverbs, sayings, in
winged expressions, i.e. in phraseological units in the broadest sense. Phraseological units are unique
linguistic units that reflect the identity of each nation, its national identity, and the conceptual picture
of the world. Consequently, each onomastic name found in the composition of Turkic phraseological
units is undoubtedly the richest source of information on the history, culture and mentality of the
Turkic peoples. Therefore, the study of onomastic names in the above context is relevant and necessary
for the Turkological science.
The authors of the article analyze anthroponyms and toponyms in the phraseological units of
the Kazakh, Tatar, Bashkir, Nogai languages in a comparative aspect, identify background historical
aspects of their origins, consider their semantic meanings, reveal the features of their use in these
Turkic languages. The semantic community of Turkic phraseological units once again confirms the
unity of the historical typology of modern Turkic languages.
