Abstract

The article analyzes Turkisms in Russian island dialects of the Northern Black
Sea region and Turkic and non-Turkic ethnic tamgas. Turkisms were extracted by continuous
sampling from the two-volume Dictionary of Russian dialects of Odessa region. Many of
the studied Turkisms were not included in other explanatory dictionaries of Russian dialects,
despite their high frequency among speakers of Ukrainian and Russian languages of the
Northern Black Sea region. The analyzed Türkisms reflect traces of borrowing from more
ancient eras, and in this connection, we try to compare some Türkisms with ethnic tamgas,
who lived in these places of different ethnic groups of this vast region in the more ancient era.
The lexical Turkisms of the analyzed dictionary reflect the most ancient period of acculturation
of speakers of Slavic and Turkic languages, and in our study of Turkism they are typologies
by lexical-semantic groups.
