Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in TSJ

Authors who use artificial intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation of their manuscripts must disclose such use and clearly explain and justify its purpose. This information must be provided in the “Materials and Methods” section. Authors are required to specify the name and version of the AI tool used, describe the purpose for which it was employed, and confirm that the scientific content, data analysis, and conclusions are their own work.
Failure to disclose the use of AI will result in the manuscript being returned to the authors for revision. Please note that the justification for the use of AI tools is also subject to additional scrutiny by peer reviewers.
The following requirements are specified in the Instructions for Authors:
- Required Format for Disclosure of AI Use
The disclosure must be included in the “Materials and Methods” section and follow the format below, with the relevant information inserted in place of the bracketed text:
Use of artificial intelligence: [Name and version of the tool] was used for [specific description of the purpose]. The authors confirm that the scientific content and conclusions are their own work.
- Mandatory Requirements:
- Name of the tool: The exact name of the tool must be provided (e.g., ChatGPT, DeepL, Grammarly). Its version must also be specified. If the version is unknown, the date of its last use and the name of its developer must be indicated.
- Purpose of use: The purpose must be described specifically and in sufficient detail to allow peer reviewers to assess the use of AI. General statements such as “to assist with writing” or “to improve the text” are not acceptable. Reviewers may request further justification as to why AI was used for a particular task instead of conventional tools such as dictionaries, text editors, or spreadsheets.
- Mandatory statement: The following statement must be included verbatim: “The authors confirm that the scientific content of the article and the conclusions are their own work.” If the authors are unable to provide this confirmation, the use of AI will be considered to have exceeded the permissible scope of supplementary assistance, and the manuscript will be rejected.
- Example of an AI Use Disclosure in the “Materials and Methods” Section:
Use of artificial intelligence: ChatGPT (GPT-4, developed by OpenAI; last used on 10 April 2026) was used for the preparation and formatting of tables, graphs, diagrams, figures and figure captions, as well as for enhancing the visual quality of illustrations.
The authors confirm that the abstracts, keywords, scientific content, data analysis, research results, conclusions, and references are their own work.
