Morphological analysis as constructing of certain typologies in the culture is no doubt
connected with the genetic code of the ethnos. The genoformula has on one hand, numerous versions,
on the other hand, a certain generalized notion about basic parameters of its functioning. What is this
phenomenon connected with? With evolutional processes which are very difficult to retrace. Only the
comparison of versions is able to discover the main pivot, model, inversion, a set of typological signs, a set
of compulsory necessary elements. The study of the role of the ethnic substrate in the formation of cultural
identification on the basis of historical typology refers to the primary universal values and local features
of the spiritual self-determination of peoples. The article makes an attempt to present the methodology of
musical Turkology based on the material of Azerbaijani folk music.
